Jesuits are playing a vital role in education since inception of the Jesuit Order, the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. We have evolved and have adapted to the need of the hour in education. Today over 300 higher education institutions, besides 2899 number of schools in over 80 countries, Jesuits continue to guide the young minds.
North Bengal St. Xavier’s College (NBSXC) is established and administered since 2007 by the Darjeeling Jesuits of North Bengal, affiliated to the University of North Bengal, and recognized by the UGC and accredited by NAAC with B+ (1st Cycle). The college is growing and continue to shape the young minds and help them to become a mature human being through education.
We at NBSXC make every effort to be relevant, innovative, and creative. We believe that the education imparted at NBSXC prepares our students for a highly competitive world. Yet, in all these endeavours, we believe that they grow up as good people of kind heart and sound mind to be able to analyse the situation around them . The continuous accompaniment to the students will make them “women and men with and for others”.
The first batch of students will be entering the 4 th year Honors with research program. The college is coming up with needed upgrades in infrastructure to make teaching-learning experience more relevant.
Our college motto is “Gyan Vigyan Vimuktaye” which means, Knowledge and Wisdom Liberate. I encourage Every Xaverian, staff and students and well-wishers to be guided by the well-informed decisions in a volatile, present world. I urge every Xaverian to be striving towards liberating oneself through thorough questioning, our way of life and the situation around us.
