The department of Bengali at North Bengal St. Xavier’s College, Rajganj, was established in 2007. In
the beginning Bengali was offered as a general course like any other B.A Programme. Now the Bengali department (as a Minor Course) deals with different branches of Bengali literature, linguistics, poetry and art of rhetoric and prosody. These are the various ways, students are encouraged to cultivate their literary talents. Students also express their soulful performance
through co-curricular activities by observing Rabindra-sangeet, Tagore Jayanti, International Mother Language Day, International Women’s Day etc. Every faculty member actively participates in national and international seminar, group discussion of different poetic sahityasabha. The department faculty
specialised in 19th century studies, linguistics, Literary historiography, feminism, Aesthetics and Modern – post Modern theory.
- To foster a culture of learning by teaching students the fundamentals of plant science, its associated fields, and developing innovations that will benefit the country and science
- To conduct innovative and fundamental research, teaching and outreach on the designs and processes of life with a focus on plants and their environments.
- Attempt is to prepare students for lifelong learning by drawing attention to the vast world of knowledge of plants and introducing to the methodology of systematic academic enquiry.

Greetings from the Botany Department!
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to our department, which has been dedicated to excellence in plant sciences since its establishment in 2017. Our department is committed to fostering a deep understanding of plant life and its applications in various fields, including agriculture, biotechnology, and environmental conservation.
With a team of four skilled faculty members, including three Ph.D. holders, we strive to provide high-quality education and research opportunities. Our well-equipped laboratory ensures that students gain hands-on experience in practical aspects of botany, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
We encourage students to actively participate in research, field studies, and academic discussions to broaden their scientific perspectives. Our goal is to nurture passionate botanists who can contribute to sustainable development and address global challenges in plant sciences.
