The Department of Psychology at North Bengal St. Xavier’s College, Rajganj, embarked on its journey in 2023. Initially introduced as an elective subject in 2018, psychology has since evolved into a comprehensive and independent department, offering both Major and Minor courses in the discipline. This progression reflects the growing recognition of psychology as a vital field of study, reinforcing the department’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.

The department is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of human behaviour, cognition, and mental health through a scientific, ethical, and holistic approach. The department offers a dynamic academic environment where students explore various psychological concepts, research methodologies, and practical applications that prepare them for diverse professional and academic careers.

Guided by the Jesuit ethos of excellence, service, and social responsibility, the department emphasizes critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and interdisciplinary learning. Our other objectives are as follows:
